Osiris was the top rated deity in ancient Egyptian mythology. He was the divine dude of the sun, farming, and well-being. Mighty Isis was the goddess of maternity, enchantment, fruitfulness, death, curing, and regeneration. She embodied the moon, and was reputed to have instructed the Egyptians the arts of cultivating and healing. The tale of Isis and Osiris is one of the oldest known fables. It illuminated spiritual convictions, authority systems, and gender roles in Old Egypt and beyond. The central aspects of the fable are mainly ethical, exposing the perpetual combat between the forces of good and wickedness.
